Student Grants

This Grant Program is sponsored by the PTSA. The purpose of the grant program is to support learning and help relieve the financial burden of creating school-based projects, particularly Senior Projects. Funding priority is given to projects that integrate subjects, involve an in-depth study of a subject or art form, or enrich VSAA or the larger community. Students must be enrolled in VSAA the year they apply, and all grade levels (6-12) are eligible.

Application deadline Student Grants Program: 4 p.m. on Friday, 02/19/10Click here to download the application.

NOTE: This is the only grant cycle that high school students will be eligible to apply for this school year

Late or incomplete grant applications will not be accepted.

Grants typically fund materials including software, art supplies, books, recordings, instruments and equipment. Tell us why you need the materials – for example, “Videotape will be used for interviews of local artists.” Technical and professional fees may also be funded. Lessons, food, celebrations, and parties are not funded by this grant program.

Money is available for individual and group projects.  Please make it clear if your request is for a group project.  For requests of more than $50, a match of funds is encouraged but not required.

The Project Summary must be type-written, clear, concise and easily understood.  Please define artistic and technical terms as if the reader has no knowledge of your topic.  You have a better chance of being funded if we have a clear understanding of your project.  Applications are evaluated anonymously, so please don’t identify yourself or other team members by name in the application (except where specifically asked for this information on the Application Information page).

A committee of PTSA members will review the applications. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee all students who apply will receive grants, or receive the full amount requested.  Awards are made based on merit of the application, number of applications received, and where PTSA funds can help the most.

We require all receipts from your project. (The PTSA is a non-profit corporation which is required by law to document all expenditures.)  If you are already spending money for your project, save your receipts.
